Hypnotherapy for Anxiety

What if you’re not afraid of the world — but of what anxiety might do to you inside it?

You may know you’re capable.

You may know, rationally, that you’re going to be okay.

But when anxiety takes over, something changes.

Your thoughts race.

Your body feels different.

You start checking yourself.

Is it starting?

What if it gets worse?

What if I can’t control it?

What if something happens?

And suddenly, the person who normally trusts themselves is watching themselves from the outside, wondering: Where did I go?

Maybe you’ve started avoiding places, people, travel, plans—or simply the things you used to enjoy.

Or maybe you’re still doing everything you normally do, but you’re not fully present with the people you love, because part of your attention is always monitoring what’s happening inside you.

Maybe the hardest part isn’t even the anxiety anymore.

It’s becoming afraid of having anxiety.

And if that’s where you are, there’s something important I want you to consider:

What if there’s nothing wrong with you?

What if your mind and body are doing something they learned to do to protect you—and you can learn a different relationship with that response?

Ugo Tsalapatanis — Maui

You’re not an anxious person.

You’re a person experiencing anxiety.

There’s a difference.

When anxiety has been around long enough, it can start to feel like an identity:

I’m an anxious person.

Something is wrong with me.

I need to fix this.

And then the fight begins.

Fear appears.

You try to get rid of it.

You worry about feeling it again.

You monitor yourself.

You avoid things that might trigger it.

And the fear of anxiety itself can keep the cycle going.

  • Fear
  • Protection
  • Anxiety
  • Fear of anxiety
  • More protection

You may not actually be afraid of going out.

You may be afraid of what might happen inside you if you go out.

That distinction matters.

Because the goal isn’t to convince you that nothing bad can ever happen. It’s to help you discover that an uncomfortable feeling doesn’t automatically mean something is wrong—and that you may be more capable of meeting it than anxiety has led you to believe.

A different way to work with anxiety

We’re not trying to fix you.

We’re helping your system feel safe now.

Instead of fighting the feeling, we become curious about it.

What are you feeling?

Where do you feel it?

What are you afraid might happen?

What is that part of you trying to protect you from?

Sometimes the answers lead somewhere deeper—a belief about safety, trust, capability, or something that has been running quietly underneath the anxiety for years.

We work with what’s actually there.

And as the relationship with fear begins to change, something else can become available:

More space.

More clarity.

More trust in yourself.

Not because you’ve forced yourself to think positively. Because you’re no longer spending all your energy fighting what’s happening inside you.

What if you weren’t afraid of anxiety anymore?

Imagine what it would feel like to finally stop waiting for the next wave.

To feel calm and safe inside yourself again.

To notice your body without immediately wondering what’s wrong.

To move through your day without constantly checking how you’re feeling.

To trust yourself again.

To go places without wondering what might happen if anxiety shows up.

To feel the space that opens when you’re no longer fighting yourself.

To breathe deeply and think:

I’m okay.

I can handle this.

I don’t have to be afraid of my own experience anymore.

And perhaps most importantly…

What would it feel like to feel like yourself again?

That’s the possibility we’re exploring together.

Not simply learning how to manage anxiety.

Experiencing what becomes possible when anxiety no longer runs the relationship.

What happens when we work together?

We start with a conversation.

No performance.

No script.

You tell me what’s happening.

I’ll want to understand how anxiety shows up in your body, what happens in your mind, what you avoid, what you’re afraid might happen, and what you’ve already tried.

Then we follow the thread.

The work may involve conversation, inquiry, hypnosis, meditation, breathwork, or other approaches depending on what makes sense for you.

But the tools aren’t the point.

The change in your relationship with yourself is.

And I don’t want you to simply understand what different could feel like. I want you to experience it.

Hypnosis gives you more control, not less.

You stay conscious and aware throughout.

You don’t disappear.

You don’t hand control to anyone.

If anything, the opposite happens. You don’t lose control — you become more aware of what’s been controlling the conversation.

Right now, anxiety is the thing making the decisions—where you go, what you avoid, how much of your attention you get to keep. Hypnosis is a way of stepping far enough out of that stream to see it clearly, and to start choosing again.

Most people I work with are surprised by it—not because anything dramatic happens, but because they feel something they haven’t felt in a while. Settled. Clear. More like themselves.

And once you’ve felt that, it stops being an idea about what’s possible. It becomes something you know you can find your way back to.

A little about Ugo

For more than 15 years, I’ve helped people work with the patterns, beliefs, and experiences that can keep life feeling smaller than it needs to be.

But what matters most to me is meeting the person in front of me—not trying to fit them into a method.

I’ve learned that being calm doesn’t mean life stops being difficult.

Life still happens.

You get tired.

Things don’t go according to plan.

People you love struggle.

The future is uncertain.

Years ago, after a particularly rough night with one of my daughters, I had a full day of clients ahead of me. I was exhausted, and my mind had already started building a story about how terrible the day was going to be.

Then another thought came:

It’s completely okay to be tired.

Nothing outside me changed.

I was still tired.

But the fight stopped.

And almost immediately, something shifted.

There was less resistance.

More acceptance.

More balance.

I wasn’t suddenly at 100%. I was still tired. But I felt grounded enough to meet the day.

That’s something I keep coming back to in this work:

Sometimes the suffering isn’t only in what we’re feeling. It’s in the fight with what we’re feeling.

What people say

“I held a lot of skepticism of hypnotherapy.”

“I held a lot of skepticism of hypnotherapy being as I work in the field of evidence based behavior therapies myself. The changes were subtle at first, but the scrambled thoughts in my head sort of ‘clicked’ after a few weeks, and ever since then I have felt happier and more at ease with the challenges and self criticism I have held tightly on to regarding my identity.”

— Tyler W.

“A feeling of inner peace and acceptance that I haven’t had in years.”

“I went from repeated sleepless nights and constant worry, to a feeling of inner peace and acceptance that I haven’t had in years.”

“I’ve had many versions of therapy throughout my life, and Ugo was able to teach me more in just a few sessions than I’ve learned from years with certain therapists.”

— Sean F.

“My anxiety feels more under control.”

“I came in struggling with anxiety, stress, difficulty sleeping, and some confidence issues related to past trauma. He took the time to really listen and tailor the sessions to my needs… After working with him, I noticed meaningful shifts in my mindset and habits. I’m able to manage stress much better than before, my anxiety feels more under control, and my sleep has become more restful. I’ve also gained more confidence and feel more positive overall.”

Ways to work together

Four-Session Anxiety Intensive

$1,200

Four private 1:1 sessions focused on understanding the patterns beneath your anxiety and creating meaningful movement.

Installments available.

Three-Month Anxiety Program

$4,500

A deeper 1:1 process over three months, with 12 sessions to work more thoroughly with the patterns, beliefs, and ways of responding that may be keeping anxiety in place.

Installments available.

Four sessions can be enough to create meaningful movement. Sometimes, once we get into the work, we discover that the pattern has been around longer or is connected to more than anxiety alone. If that happens, the four-session process can naturally open into deeper work.

You don’t have to decide which path is right for you today.

That’s what the conversation is for.

Who this work is—and isn’t—for

This work is for someone who is willing to participate.

Someone who is curious about what’s happening inside them.

Someone who is tired of letting anxiety make their world smaller.

You don’t have to be fearless.

You don’t have to arrive confident.

You don’t even have to know exactly what’s wrong.

But you do need to be willing to explore.

This probably isn’t for you if:

  • you’re looking for someone to simply make the anxiety disappear
  • you want a passive solution where you don’t have to participate
  • you’re unwilling to become curious about what’s happening underneath the symptoms
  • you’re looking for a promise that you’ll never feel anxiety again

A few questions you may have

Is the first consultation free?

Yes. The first 40-minute Zoom conversation is free, with no obligation to continue.

Do I need to live in Maui?

No. Sessions are available online from Maui, serving Washington State and beyond. In-person sessions are available in Kahului.

Will I be conscious during hypnosis?

Yes. You’re aware throughout the process. Hypnosis is a relaxed, focused state—not unconsciousness or giving control to someone else.

Can hypnosis make anxiety worse?

People respond differently to any approach, which is why the work begins with understanding your particular situation rather than assuming one method fits everyone.

If something doesn’t feel appropriate for you, we don’t force it.

What if I’m already seeing a therapist or taking medication?

You don’t have to reject something that’s already helping you.

If you’re receiving medical or mental-health care, continue working with your qualified healthcare providers regarding those decisions. This work can be complementary, but it isn’t a substitute for medical care.

What if my anxiety is severe?

Let’s talk about what’s happening. I’ll help you determine whether this work is appropriate for you. If something falls outside the scope of what I can responsibly help with, I’ll tell you.

How do I know which program is right for me?

You don’t need to know before we talk. We’ll discuss what’s happening, what you’ve tried, what you’re looking for, and what kind of support makes sense.

Maybe it’s time to live again.

Maybe you’ve spent long enough waiting for the next wave.

The next anxious thought.

The next strange sensation.

The next moment when you’re afraid you won’t be able to handle what you’re feeling.

Maybe you’ve spent long enough trying to find the perfect technique to make anxiety disappear.

Maybe you’re ready to ask a different question.

Not: “What’s wrong with me?”

But: “What’s happening here?”

And: “What if I can be okay, even when I feel this?”

You don’t have to promise yourself you’ll never feel anxiety again.

You don’t have to become fearless.

You don’t have to become someone new.

You can start with a conversation.

What if there’s nothing wrong with you?

What if you can feel safe now?

What if the life you’ve been holding back from is still there?
